Dr. Alan Hao Yang is an Associate Research Fellow and Deputy Director at Institute of International Relations. He is also an Associate Professor at Graduate Institute of East Asian Studies, National Chengchi University (NCCU), Taiwan. He is also the Executive Director of Center for Southeast Asian Studies at NCCU. In 2011, Dr. Yang was awarded SUSI Fellowship from the US Department of State in capacity of visiting professor of U.S. foreign policy at the Department of Political Science, University of Florida. As for academic services, he is the only Taiwanese member on the international editorial board of the leading international study journal International Studies Review. His research interests cover international relations theory, Asia-Pacific security, ASEAN regionalism, border politics in Southeast Asia, and China-ASEAN relations with specific focus on the soft power politics of Confucius Institutes.
