Hsin-huang Michael Hsiao
Dr. Hsin-Huang Michael Hsiao is a scholar in sociology with particular focus on issues of middle class, civil society and democratization in Asia; environmental movements, sustainability and risk society; and comparative Hakka studies in Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Dr. Hsiao is Distinguished Research Fellow of Institute of Sociology of Academia Sinica and served as National Policy Advisor to the President (1996 and 2006) and Senior Advisor to the President (2016- ). His most recent publications are: Non-Profit Sector: Organization and Practice (2017 edition) (in Chinese, co-editor, Chu-Liu Publications, 2017), Youth and Social Change in Taiwan and Hong Kong (co-editor, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2016), Coping with China Risks: Challenges to Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese Firms (in Japanese, co-editor, University of Tokyo Press, 2016).
