Dr. Leehter Yao is the Political Deputy Minister of Education of Taiwan. Before taking up this appointment, Dr. Yao served as president of National Taipei University of Technology (also known as Taipei Tech) and as president of the Association of National Universities of Science and Technology of Taiwan. Dr. Yao received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, U.S.A. He also serves as a board member for the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) and for the Automotive Research & Testing Center. He has received several academic honors, including an Industry-Academia Cooperation Award from the Ministry of Education, a Distinguished Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers, and a Distinguished Electrical Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Yao is a fellow of the International Society of Engineering Asset Management (ISEAM) and an academician of the International Academy of Engineering in Russia.
