MARCO WOPEREIS is a Dutch national and holds a PhD degree in tropical agronomy from the Wageningen University, Netherlands. He is the Director General of the World Vegetable Center based in Taiwan. Prior to his current position, he served as the deputy director general of the Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice, Benin). He also worked for the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD, France), the International Center for Soil Fertility and Agricultural Development (IFDC, Togo), the West Africa Rice Development Association (WARDA, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire) and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI, Philippines).
