Ms. Mei-hua Wang was appointed Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs on July 1, 2016. Her primary responsibilities involve supervising international trade and economic and trade negotiations, as well as important matters concerning business management, intellectual property rights, standards, metrology and inspection, and international cooperation. Given her legal background and excellent communication ability, Vice Minister Wang makes every effort to hasten the development of Taiwan’s industries and economy, while bringing Taiwan’s trade and economic systems in line with international standards. Vice Minister Wang graduated with a law degree from National Taiwan University in 1980. Before her appointment as Vice Minister, she had been the Director General of the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) for eight years. She played a crucial and assertive role in helping Taiwan’s intellectual property laws to be compatible with industrial development as well as to be in line with international standards.
