Ambassador Raymond Burghardt served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) from February 2006 to September 2016. He has also served as U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam from 2001 to 2004, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassies in Manila (1993-96), Seoul (1990-93) and Political Counselor in Beijing (1987-89). Ambassador Burghardt received his B.A. from Columbia College in 1967 and completed his graduate studies at the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs.
